Here are some of the most frequent questions we get asked. 

When do you move?

While we're still waiting on paperwork and immigration, the plan is to move in January.  That can always change. 


How long will you be gone? 
We believe the contract will be for 3 years this time. 

Will you sell your house/cars/things? 
We will sell our house and cars this time.  We will only get rid of what we have to.  

What will the kids do for school? 
Both the elementary school and preschool are ALL day and both are at the International School of Bologna.  Zach is very excited to be in the same school and Jackson, and I'm very excited to save a little time running kids to and from school.  

Do you have to learn Italian?
We're trying.  Learning another language is HARD!  We have the Rosetta Stone for all of us plus several work books and other resources.  Josh has also done a one week immersion class to get a little jump start and then John Deere will also pay for 300 hours of language training.  

Where are you going? 
Josh's job is in Ravenna, Italy.  It is right on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.  If you ask me I would love to live there...Who wouldn't!!  But we're choosing to live in Bologna, Italy for the international school.  Bologna is about one hour west of Ravenna, so it will be quite the commute every day for Josh but we want to keep life as normal as we can for everyone!

We've arrived

 Buongiorno! It's been over 5 months since my last update.  We thought we would live in the apartment 6 weeks, but that turned into 5 months.  It was long and frustrating but we reached the end of the tunnel and I'm now sitting in Italy drinking coffee on the patio.  I guess it was worth the wait!   We arrived on Tuesday morning and I'm pretty sure since then I've slept about 8 hours total. Jet lag is rough!  The kids finally slept through the night last night.  So maybe Josh and I are close too!   The boys started school and the first day seemed to be great!  They are going to the International School in Bologna and have already made some friends.  I've met several people as well and everyone is so friendly!  We're all in the same boat and everyone just "gets it".  They get the frustrations and the delay, the different food and the tired kids.  So I think we will fit in just fine!       ...

How it all came about

                                                                                As usual, when big things happen Josh is traveling.  He received a phone call late one evening while in the hotel.  Asking how he would like to work in Italy.  There weren't many details yet, but his mind started spinning and let's say he didn't sleep much that night.  Fast forward to the next morning.  I was doing my usual bible study and just felt and overwhelming sense that I needed to say "Yes" to God.  I didn't know what that meant, but in one short day I would find out.  Josh would get home late that night but I was already in bed.  He didn't want to wake me, so he held onto the news for one more day.  Another sleeple...

YES You Can!

                                                                       As the news starts to spread we hear people tell us over and over, "Oh, I could never do that".  Never move to another country, never learn a new language, never move away from family and friends.  Well years ago I thought the same thing.  Then I was asked and my very first response was, "Well, can you say no?"
